Boathouse
New Orleans, Louisiana
A lakefront boathouse on Lake Pontchartrain has been transformed into an open loft that maximizes water views. A central glass-enclosed bathroom separates the living areas from the primary bedroom. Exposed steel beams, skylights, and a minimalist white stucco exterior create a modern, light-filled atmosphere throughout the home.
“As the sun moves throughout the day, the light in the boathouse also changes. Shadows are created and march through the boathouse as the sun plays on each wall… ‘We fabricated a pure white box with lighting, paint and skylights,’ says Ledbetter.”
