This 1,500-square-foot boutique uses a minimalist material palette to create a serene, gallery-like setting for displaying clothing alongside Asian-inspired ceramic vessels by New York artist Peter Lane. Seamless surfaces, floating visual effects, and custom ash veneer display tables direct attention to a dramatic freestanding feature wall of lacquered fiberboard and mirror.
“Tackling the task in order of priorities, (Ledbetter) first went about visually blending the complexion of walls, ceiling and floor. To transform the mismatched planes into an interflowing volume, he applied white-pigmented plaster stained with tea-toned acid overhead and to all side walls, repeating a similar tonality in seamless concrete underfoot. Within this cocoon of oneness, fashions and fixturing seem to float. Ledbetter, who finds ‘a cool minimalism’ a bit chilling, opts for a design approach that comes across as warm.”
