St. Roch Market
New Orleans, Louisiana
Originally built in 1875, the St. Roch Market has undergone multiple renovations, the most recent being a $3 million post-Katrina project led by Lee Ledbetter & Associates. This renovation transformed the market into a symbol of New Orleans’ recovery and revitalization along the St. Claude Avenue corridor, preserving historic features from the 1937 Works Progress Administration era while introducing modern systems, new plazas, and improved pedestrian access. Inside, the market was redesigned as a flexible, light-filled food hall and business incubator for local restaurateurs, seamlessly combining historic preservation with contemporary community use.
