Lake Pontchartrain Residence
New Orleans, Louisiana
This minimalist silver-gray brick residence was designed to showcase a significant collection of contemporary paintings and photography while shielding them from excessive natural light. Inside, architectural features such as a serpentine staircase, arched ceiling, and warm oak spine soften the home’s rectilinear form, creating an inviting contrast to the cool white plaster walls and black slate floors. The interior design merges historical and modern furnishings, resulting in a home that celebrates both its art collection and everyday living.
“Answering to two callings, the New Orleans architect and decorator fashions a superb residential light box for a photography collector… The decorating here matches the architecture and artwork in confidence and complexity… Ledbetter’s reputation as a serious architect has not been compromised by his dual identity as a skilled decorator.”
