Besthoff Sculpture Pavilion

New Orleans, Louisiana

A 5,000-square-foot gallery pavilion was sited among live oaks as part of a six-acre expansion of the Sydney & Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden at the New Orleans Museum of Art. The pavilion’s elliptical design frames a central courtyard and incorporates a curved garden wall that conceals service spaces while showcasing a site-specific mosaic mural by artist Teresita Fernandez. Inside, flowing walls, 18-foot ceilings, and perimeter skylights create a luminous environment for large-scale sculptures, with a terrace offering expansive views of the adjacent lagoon and surrounding garden.
